Man pretending to be an army major arrested in Nigeria

The Delta State Police announced the arrest of a 44-year-old man called Fabian who had been marching around and falsely proclaiming himself as Major Ojumah of the Nigeria army.

The imposter who reportedly comes from Abbi in Ndokwa-West Local Government Area of Delta State was apprehended along Sapele-Benin Road on July 31, 2020.

He was caught with a fake military van which had the plate number NA142-B01 and was conveying 420 packs of compressed weed.

The van harbouring the packs of compressed weed was taken away from his possession.

The suspect later admitted to being an active businessman involved in the dealing of weed since the year 2014.

He further confessed that he purchased the Army plate number from serving personnel and that he was also able to buy the army uniform from a known market within the barracks.

Further investigations by the police led to the conclusion that he may be telling the truth since he grew up in the barracks although he did not have any valid military background.
