Meet Nyakim Gatwech
Nyakim Gatwech is an american model born on 27th January, 1993 in Gambela,Ethiopia. The one thing that has given her the attention all over the world is her uncommon dark skin colour.
In an era where skin bleaching is on the rise, she stands to break the chain and embrace her true self. She revealed that she grew up in refugee camps located in Ethiopia and Kenya but later moved into the United States of America when she was 13 years old. She spoke about her racists bullied her for her melanin-rich skin.
The model of South Sudanese descent expressed her views on Instagram where she described an incident where an uber driver suggested that she bleach her natural skin to make it a bit lighter. She blatantly refused and does not actually care about what anyone else thinks.
As time passed by, she became a strong advocate for self acceptance and has been using the spotlight to encourage people to stay true to themselves and also accept diversity.
I really think what Nyakim is doing is the best for our generation and beyond. If people accept who they are, they can become the best version of their selves and change the world.
