Lieutenant William Kelly From Norfolk Police was one of the supporters of Kyle during the midst of the problem, and he was fired for his support for kyle.

A Virginia officer who was dismissed after being outed by hackers and the media for anonymously giving $25 to a Kyle Rittenhouse defense fund now wants his job back from the woke, ‘hypocrite’ police chief who fired him.

Norfolk Police Lieutenant William Kelly revealed to DailyMail.com on Friday, as the Rittenhouse verdict was announced, why he believed Rittenhouse merited his assistance at the time and why he stands by his choice now.

After a two-week trial, Rittenhouse was declared not guilty on all counts on Friday.

Who Is Lieutenant William Kelly From Norfolk Police?

Lt. William Kelly, a 19-year member of the Norfolk Police Department, was the No. 2 official in the department’s internal affairs branch.

Kelly gave $25 to the legal fund of Kyle Rittenhouse, an 18-year-old charged with fatally shooting two men at a protest last summer, in September, along with a message of encouragement that said that Kelly had done nothing wrong.”

He ignored it until his name appeared in an article by The Guardian with the terms of other officers who contributed to the fund. A gang had hacked their information and given it to the media.

Kelly, a self-described “news addict,” saw that Rittenhouse’s GoFundMe account had been deactivated and that a service called Give Send Go had established up another one for him.

He logged on and gave, making sure to block out personal information since he didn’t want to be associated with the police agency.

Today I started a fundraiser for Lt. Bill Kelly—17 year police veteran who was fired in April after the despicable @guardian revealed that he anonymously donated to Kyle Rittenhouse’s legal defense. Please share and support!https://t.co/OIOsTbXU56

Why Is Lieutenant William Kelly Fired?

Seven months ago, long before the trial ever began, Kelly was dismissed for secretly giving to the teenager’s then-growing defense fund.

Kelly was assigned to patrol before being placed on administrative leave. After an inquiry determined that his acts violated city and departmental regulations, he was dismissed.

He filed a grievance, challenging each policy infraction and asserting his claims, including that his dismissal violated his right to free expression.

A hacking group known as ‘Distributed Denial of Secrets’ stole his name and email address from the fund and sent it to The Guardian, who published a piece that included his identity.

Within 24 hours of the news spreading, the Norfolk Police Department was inundated with requests to dismiss Kelly from people all over the world.

Kelly was sacked in April after the city determined that his words had ‘eroded’ the public’s faith in the police.

Hello @NorfolkPD, Lt. William Kelly was wrongfully fired from your agency when, as a private citizen, he anonymously donated $25 to Kyle #Rittenhouse’s defense fund last year. Kyle has been acquitted on counts. When do plan to reinstate Lt. Kelly?https://t.co/Qd8eWtfxir
